July 02, 2021
nRF Connect SDK is Nordic's software development kit for developing both short-range wireless and cellular IoT applications. The nRF52 Series SoCs and nRF9160 SiP are supported for production, and the nRF5340 SoC has support for production for Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) in single protocol configuration. Multiprotocol operation with the combination of Thread and Bluetooth LE peripheral role is also supported for production on the nRF5340 SoC.

This webinar gives a short introduction to the nRF Connect SDK, followed by the exciting new short-range and long-range features in the latest release of the nRF Connect SDK version 1.6.

Short-range wireless highlights include:

  • Added production support for nRF5340 for Bluetooth LE in single protocol configuration and in multiprotocol operation with Thread for Bluetooth LE Peripheral role
  • Added features available in Trusted Firmware-M (TF-M), which is supported for development with nRF5340 and nRF9160.
  • Integrated Apple's Find My supported for production
  • Integrated more complete support for Matter (formerly Project CHIP) which is supported for development for nRF52840 and nRF5340 SoC

Some cellular IoT highlights for nRF9160 rev2 SiP include:

  • Updated modem and carrier support
  • Updated location features
  • Security updates (Trusted Firmware-M)
